Muhammad Ali (Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr). is a retired African American Boxer out of Louisville, Kentucky. He was very successful from the start of his career to the very end. He acquired the World Heavy-Weight Championship three times throughout his career. He was the only man of his day to do. When Ali’s career as a Boxer first started he won a gold medal at the Olympics. Even though it was in the Light Heavy-Weight division it’s still a big accomplishment. His success has led him to earn legendary names and awards. Muhammad Ali won six Kentucky Golden Gloves titles, two national Golden Gloves titles, an Amateur Athletic Union National Title, and the Light Heavyweight gold medal in the summer of 1960. That was just his achievements as an amateur. His record as an amateur was 100 W’s and 5L’s.In his Heavy-Wieght Career he recieved multiple championships. On Feburary 25th 1964 Ali beat Sonny Liston in Miami Beach, FL to earn World Heavyweight Title for the first time.Ali was stripped of the Title in 1967 for refusal to join the army under religious beliefs. Ali received another shot at the title in 1974 and won, beating George Forman. In Feb. 1978 an unmotivated and out of shape Ali lost the title to Leon Spinks.Ali regained the title in Sept 1978. Because the title is won or lost IN THE RING, not the office of the WBC, ALi was once again recognized by the WORLD as heavyweight champion. He retired after that fight.
